The Denim Diet book is truly one of the best diet / nutrition books I have ever read (and I have read lots). It is an easy read, very interesting and has the best recipes. A lot of books have recipes that are low fat or good for you but are not very tasty. These are all of the above and everything is healthy and easy to prepare. Kami does a great job providing a variety of interesting facts and great advice. I couldn't put it down until I finished it. I loved it! Great book!!!

Kami Gray's THE DENIM DIET is not a diet book at all...it is an incredibly informative, motivating, LAUGH OUT LOUD read. Once you read the introduction you won't be able to put it down! Funny to think that a self help nutrition book is a page turner, but it is! It's packed w health/fitness info, talks about the choices we make about food and how they effect our body. Kami also educates us on how to make better choices to fuel our bodies and respect food. And the icing on the cake...it is written with a boat load of humor! I also love that Kami's health practices are kind to the environment.

I highly recommend this book. The title makes it sound like it is going to be a fad diet - it isn't! It's all about getting healthy and looking great in your dream pair of jeans. The book is divided into chapters in which Kami helps you tackle your health habits one-by-one with babysteps and a lot of humor. The nutritional advice is sound and the focus is on building healthy diet and exercise habits while also being mindful of the environment and sustainability.



Some of the topics Kami covers are: artificial sweeteners, sugars and alternative sweeteners you might not have thought about (such as agave nectar - yum!), simple vs. complex carbs, organic foods vs. conventionally grown and genetically modified foods, fast food, alcohol, coffee drinks, protein sources including meats, fruits and veggies, fats (they are not all bad!), snacking, portion sizes, eating with freinds and family, and exercise. She includes shopping lists, recipes that are easy and delicious, and tips for choosing well at a variety of ethnic restaurants and social events.



Kami's approach is down-to-earth, positive, and sensible. She also weaves in lots of personal stories that keep you interested and motivated, and she is laugh-out-loud funny to boot. I felt like I was in the presence of a friend when I was reading it, and I found the advice easy-to-follow. Does it work? Well, I have lost 14 pounds (and counting), and my family says I look like a different person. I have never felt deprived since the plan includes plenty of healthy, delicious foods. My skin is glowing and I have more energy than I have had in years. I liked the babystep approach, since I have found that trying to revamp everything in my diet all at once is a recipe for crash-and-burn. This is a simple, doable lifestyle change that you can approach at your own pace.

The Denim Diet is not a diet, but an eye opening look at a BETTER way to eat! As someone who loves to eat, I can say I've read everything out there: food combining books, GI books, no carb books, no sugar books! Name it and I've probably read it. Kami writes this book as if she's talking to the reader. It is clear and easy to undertand! You'll be amazed how easy this can be! Give yourself a chance and reward yourself with a gorgeous pair of denim that makes you feel like a million! I did! There are so many real, funny stories in here that anyone could relate with! If you are serious about a healthier way to eat, The Denim Diet is a friend you can keep in your purse while you shop! There are so many great foods out there, and Kami shows you the "how" and "why" they are important. She even offers her site address in the book so you can contact her questions, blog or just say "HI!" With weight loss benefits as a cherry on top of your fruit salad (no cakes here girls!) you can't go wrong with Kami!

Personally, I'm tired of diets that claim that I'm going to be a size two. I'm frustrated by diet books that assume I'm stupid or lazy if I have a little extra weight around my belly.



I prefer the approach that The Denim Diet takes. Yes, all the how to information is there but the author focuses on being healthy rather than adhering to a certain size. In the short and long run, I'd rather live actively and be kind to myself rather than alternately starving myself and then binging to drown my sorrows.
